COMMISSIONS TERMS & CONDITIONS

Consumer Rights Act 2015 & Trading Standards Guidance
Last updated: Nov 2025

1. Definitions

“Commission” refers to any custom-made or bespoke jewellery item created specifically for the customer based on their instructions or design.

2. Design Process

2.1 Consultations

Initial consultations may include sketches, photographs, or design references.

2.2 Final Design Approval

Designs must be approved in writing (email or message).
Once approved, no further changes can be made without additional cost.

3. Deposits & Payments

3.1 Deposit

A non-refundable deposit of 50% of the quoted total price is required before work begins on the commission. This deposit covers the initial design work, sourcing of materials, and other preparation costs for your project. By paying the deposit, you confirm your commitment to proceed with the commission under the agreed terms.

3.2 Remaining Balance

The remaining balance (the other 50% of the commission price, plus any agreed additional costs) must be paid in full before you collect the finished work or before it is dispatched to you. No item will be released until full payment has been received.

3.3 Additional Charges

We strive to complete all commissions within the original quoted price. However, if unforeseen additional materials or labor are required during the making process, we will inform you as soon as possible. In such a case, a revised quote outlining the extra costs will be provided, and your approval will be required before any additional work proceeds. We reserve the right to charge for necessary extra materials or labour only with your prior consent, ensuring that you are never surprised by unexpected fees. This approach keeps us in line with UK trading standards by guaranteeing transparency and fairness in any price adjustments.

4. Cancellation Policy

4.1 Customer Cancellation

Once work has begun, the order cannot be cancelled and no refund will be issued, in accordance with the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 (custom goods exemption).

4.2 Cancellation by Us

If we must cancel due to circumstances beyond our control, a full refund will be issued.

5. Production Times

Estimated completion dates are provided in good faith.
These are not guaranteed due to:

  • Material availability

  • Hallmarking timeframes

  • Workshop workload

  • External delays beyond our control

We will notify you if timeframes change.

6. Materials & Sourcing

We will source materials that meet the agreed specification.
If materials become unavailable, we will contact you with alternatives before proceeding.

7. Hallmarking

All commissions above the legal exemption weight will be hallmarked by a UK Assay Office in accordance with the Hallmarking Act 1973.

8. Handmade Characteristics

Commissions are handmade and may show small natural variations in texture, finish, and dimensions.

These are not considered faults under the Consumer Rights Act.
